       CALL FOR PAPERS  

The International Forum for Information Technology in Tamil (INFITT) is pleased to inform that the 16th Tamil Internet Conference 2017 will be held in the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus in the Greater Toronto Area during August 25-27th, 2017
The INFITT annual conference is co-sponsored by the University of Waterloo Centre for Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Canada and with the support of the University of Toronto.
Research papers in all the areas of Tamil Computing are invited. We have identified two key areas for this year’s conference: Deep Learning and Data Science. In addition to these thematic areas, Conference Program Committee welcomes regular research papers on the following topics:
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications in Tamil, Spellchecker, Grammar checker, 
  Text Analytics/Mining,
Sentiment Analysis, Speech recognition, TTS
Systems, Search engines,
  Machine Learning, Machine Translation, Data-mining, etc.
• Corpus linguistics
• OCR and Handwriting Recognition
• Tamil "enabling" in mobile platforms (smartphones, tablets, etc.) with particular emphasis for
   Tamil Apps for use on iOS, Android and Windows platforms
• Open Source Tamil software and Tamil Localization
• Computer- and online-assisted Teaching, Learning of Tamil
• Tamil content and delivery via Internet:  Blogging, microblogging, Wikipedia, Podcasting,
   social networks
• Tamil Digital Library, Digital Archiving
• Tamil Linked Data, Semantic Web, Data Science pertaining to Tamil, Tamil Ontologies,
• Learning Management Systems, Virtual Learning,

All those interested in presenting a paper at the conference are requested to submit a
2- page (A4) factual abstract,
based on their research methodology and their research findings, to the Conference Program Committee at
cpc2017@infitt.org  before April 15,  May 15, 2017
The abstracts can be in Tamil, English or bilingual (Tamil and English) but all abstracts must be written using Unicode encoding or Tamil All Character Encoding (TACE).
Submission of an abstract implies that at least one author of the paper will attend the conference to present the work in person. Proxy or remote presentation is not permitted
Authors of papers accepted for presentation will be informed on or before 15 May  June 15, 2017. Authors of the accepted Abstracts should submit their full papers, not less than 4 pages long and not exceeding 6 pages long, on or before 15 June  July 15, 2017.  
The Conference Proceedings will be published in printed paper format and as an e-book. Arrangements are being made to have the Conference Proceedings of the annual Tamil Internet Conferences published with an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number). ISSN will permit routine indexation of the Conference Proceedings in bibliographic databases of all leading libraries across the globe and proper referencing of the content of the Proceedings in academic journal publications.
